It's no secret that Matt's music has attracted many a nerd over the years.Matt has often referred to himself as a loser.there's a couple obviously examples - generation x-wing and Loser Anthems ( unless he's really calling us losers, in which case we're both losers)

So I want to know how many of you consider yourselves to be nerds!

Nerd:

Wikipedia describes a nerd as a stereotypical or archetypal designation, refers to somebody who passionately pursues intellectual or esoteric interests - such as books and video games, rather than having a social life, participating in organized sports, or other mainstream activities. The Merriam-Webster definition is an "unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially: one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits".

And yes I realize that I'm interchanging the words nerd and loser, so here's the definition of loser:

Loser:

a)someone or something that is marked by consistently or thoroughly bad quality, performance, etc.: Don't bother to see that film, it's a real loser.

b)Slang. a misfit, esp. someone who has never or seldom been successful at a job, personal relationship, etc.

I think it's fair to say that all nerds are atleast semi-losers but not all losers are nerds

The results will probably be biased considering that a good chunk of the nerdy MG fans are probably signed up on NF - maybe all of them- but I still want to know!

I'm not slavishly devoted to intellectual and academic pursuits although I'm pretty obsessed.

I am, however, resting my entire sense of self-worth solely on whether or not I get into the U of T pharmacy program. But fuck you. University will do a hell of a lot more for me than sports ever could.

"Edumacation."

EDIT: Why is there no "fuck you" option?

I would of chosen nerd had that definition not been there. I guess I'm more of a computer geek, but it actually seems to be the cool thing these days...so I don't know what to classify myself as.

This part kind of describes me:

"...somebody who passionately pursues intellectual or esoteric interests - such as books..."

but that's where it stops.

This part doesn't really fit with me:

"...and video games, rather than having a social life, participating in organized sports, or other mainstream activities. The Merriam-Webster definition is an "unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially: one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits."

He totally knows everyone. You've all met him, you just don't know it yet.

We need an option for "unwilling, intellectually predatorial geek-loser with a number of redeeming but strangely understated qualities and a penchant for irrational grudges".

See, that's the thing, garsk. I think Geek fits most of us better than Nerd.

Oh, and tell that clown you live with to get me my DVDs before I start firing rabid lemmings at him, out of my air cannon, from the theatre parking lot.

I'm a geek. There's a BIG difference. So I chose neither.

Agreed....and Sparq...it is apparently going to take more than one DVD to do this, so it'll take a little longer...first disc is done and the first season will be done tonight....

EDIT: Air cannon you say?
