Hedley Guitarist Singing Change Of Season

Recommended Posts

in a day and age when so many bands are manufactured, it's a delight to find an artist who is comfortable doing an acoustic tour, and who actually has the voice with which to do it successfully. i could have cried for many of the songs he played at the toronto show during the acoustic tour. hell, i almost cried during 99% of us is failure.

I'm a little late to this thread as I haven't been on in a while, but I am one of the few Hedley defenders on here lol. While I do agree most of their album & post-album songs aren't that out of the ordinary, there are a few good tunes here and there. They did decent covers of Rage's Bulls On Parade (with an original solo that sounded awesome) and Killing In The Name. The teenybopper crowd is shitty at concerts, but if you hit a 19+ show or at least one with an adult (re: drinking) section it's a decent time.

Like most bands, their early indie/demo days (then known as "hedley." and before reforming the band around Jacob) is where the best tracks lie. After going from that to Universal's commerialized songs, I was pretty disappointed overall. If there's interest, look for the old version of Saturday (live with Jacob giving an intro), either version of What Smiles Can't Afford (live or studio) or Lost In A Field Of Flowers Called Empty. They had another handful of songs on top of that, PM me if you want to know more.

Let the Hedley bashing continue...

Isn't someone bitter? I think it's a good thing that bands have been influenced by Matthew Good (and band). Though maybe you may not think they play good music atleast you know they listen to good music.

It's true, I remember way back on Much's Gonna Meet A Rock Star, Avril confessed she was a huge Matt Good fan. Even went to Buffalo to meet him after a show. I thought that was pretty cool, even though I can't stand her.

I think the acoustic was the most diverse crowd at any concert I've been to. It's pretty special to see all these people you'd never expect to see at a Matt Good show and watching them listen and being moved what he's doing on stage.

My friend was saying in Edmonton that during In A World Called Catastrophe he looked at an older gentleman who was just moved to tears.

That just wouldn't happen at any Hedley concert...not that I'm particularly against them or anything, but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to their music.

Lol, I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned before but she had some pretty good words to say about him back in the day at the 2003 MMVA's. Fast forward to the 1:54 mark.
