am I the only one that thinks it's unfair that Martin Scorsese wan the best director oscar for The Departed? Don't get me wrong, it's a crime that the man didn't already have that award but The Departed was a remake and I think that gives him an unfair advantage. maybe it's just me

Remake or no, the man put a stamp on the picture that made it his own.

a lot of it is politics. if you win one award you're less likely to win another, etc.

I didn't think "The Pursuit of Happyness" was all that great, it was okay, and it was interesting. I would have been amused if Marky Mark had won "Best Supporting Actor". Out of everyone he actually deserved it, but it would have been funny because he's a former rapper.
