Hello Time Bomb (1998)
"Hello Time Bomb" was directed by Bill Morrison. It was the first video to be released off of Beautiful Midnight. The video takes a playful swipe at late-’90s rap-video tropes. Rather than gritty street scenes or luxury cars, the Matthew Good Band stages their performance inside a RadioShack storefront. Throughout the nearly four-minute clip, the camera lingers on neon-lit aisles and oversized electronics logos as the band members, clad in matching RadioShack-branded suits, deliver the song with exaggerated swagger.
Casting calls were held at The Rage nightclub for extras while the video was filmed at a Radioshack located outside of downtown West Boulevard. The devil was played by DSK's lead singer Blair Dobson.
Commentary
"As far as the band was concerned that's all we wanted to do. Me Rich and Dave were sitting in a restaurant in Vancouver and we all thought, wouldn't it be great for the whole band to be dressed up in RadioShack suits and wave? That was our favourite part, and we would have made the whole video that way if we could." - Matthew Good
