It was because they apparently had an insane amount of new material that wouldnt fit on just one CD, so therefore 2 are coming out, so I would imagine that the CD's are more than 40 minutes long. Dont quite know why the 2 seperate CD's though. Maybe the record label said no.

lets hope it doesn't turn out to be like guns n roses "use your illusion" 1 + 2.
