I would reccomend reading "The Natashas" by Victor Malarek for anyone would would like to educate themselves about one of the most incredible human rights issues of our time, and possibly one of the most ignored. It is an intelligently researched book and will (hopefully) spur you to take action.

Yeah the thread title sort of summarizes it, but it is an in depth look at the trafficking of European women into prostitution rings. The girls respond to ads in papers, online etc. that promise high paying jobs such as waitresses, models, nannies etc. and once they arrive at their destination they are sold to a pimp and forced to service up to 20 men a day. Apparently it's a huge problem, and one which isn't getting much better because people at all levels ( policemen, UN peacekeepers, government officials etc) are clients of these illegal brothels and thus have no incentive to shut them down.

Speaking of clients of prostitutes, I was once at a model UN conference, and the keynote speaker there went out to India and posed as a prostitute to try and shut down a prostitution ring.

 

The man who ended up propositioning her was the chairman of a multi-national corporation.

 

It's really quite a sad thing, considering she wasn't even legal at the time.
