Anyone else heard Brian Byrne (I Mother Earth) solo debut? It's okay, but it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be.

Bought it, and have been really enjoying it. I think the style suits him really well - I was an IME fan, but I never thought that his vocal style really fit in with their music. This is much better for him.

 

He's playing a bunch of free shows in Chapters right now, as well, which would be another good way of checking him out - he's going to be in Toronto at the World's Biggest Bookstore on Friday and Yorkdale on Saturday.

I haven't given a good listen to the CD, but he plays a lot with this guy Jerry at a local pub here in Burlington. He's developed quite a following there. Sounds excellent live. They just play acoustic there and it's always phenomenal.

I think the CD should have been acoustic, for some reason I think the demos sounded better than the album versions, except for "Nova Dashboard", that one still sounds awesome.

nova dashboard is an excellent song. like i said, haven't taken a listen much to the album, but when he plays acoustic, he's phenomenal. at the pub he plays some of his stuff, but mostly covers.
