tab or score...

 

i'm just starting and going am opting to learn score over tab...

 

arguement: its real music, you can pick up any piece of music and play it, has beats, tempo, dynamic, pitch

 

tab: just numbers, you have to have heard the song you wanna play in order to play it correctly...

 

what you think is best for a newbie...

tab is easier to learn and play by far. However, learning score is (as you outlined) far more powerful as a skill.

 

I don't think tab requires learning, so I'm going t vote score.

Well i learned tab first off and im learning score right now. I think that bolth would be good....just incase i would ever want to buy the official music to an album

good to know both, but score is the obvious choice of the two here.

i would say tab.. provided you are learning popular music, such as MG. your arguments for score can become crutches.. a musician should rely foremost on their ears... just remember not to take tabs as gospel.. it is usually wrong..

using score sheets is good, but is not great for beginners.. it is more theory based and thus should only be bothered with by people who take this approach very seriously.
