Random Yelling

Recommended Posts

At a show last year in Oshawa, I gave a loud senseless whooopping yell during "Set Me On Fire". It was immature, and I'm sorry to everyone in the building, including Matt.

In all my years, I don't think I've ever heard a person apologize for inappropriate, loud outbursts at a music concert. Good on you! That's what sets Matt Good fans apart from the rest. :)

At least you have the opportunity to actually go out to a concert and yell out if you want, I have never been to a concert in my life. Anxiety Disorder is a bitch

Aww, sorry to hear that. If you live in Calgary, maybe I could gently caux you into going to your first Matthew Good concert. You won't regret it. I promise. It's my mission in life to get everyone to go to a Matt Good concert at least once in their life. haha. Just kidding. Going to my first Matthew Good concert in June 2001, on Matt's birthday, was absolutely mindblowing for me. Maybe it would be the same for you too.

Ah well, we all do stupid stuff

For example: When I was 16 I lit up a huge dube at a MG concert in Ottawa and was escorted out by security in front of everyone in the underage area. Not my proudest moment.

My last MG concert in Halifax 2010 I got some pretty good photos but some guy yelled at me because I was too tall and his girlfriend was behind me and too short to see the stage so I let them stand in front of me. Although, not that it was really my fault that the guys girlfriend was vertically challenged, I thought of it as a way to give back to the MG community after my dube light up incident: P

But really, my whole point is no one really cares and no one really remembers things like this except the perpetrators.

But good on you for apologizing, I am sure there are worse things that have happened at MG concerts, ie tossing of objects. Didn’t someone toss a bunch of stuff a Matt years ago?

Thanks for that story, posting this topic has been healing and I want to thank everyone who has replyed. I guess my concern was that Matt has mentioned that he dislikes that random yelling stuff, and that I ruined an otherwise amazing performance video of "set me on fire" on you tube. But yes, others have done worst like throwing coins at him to shining a red lazer dot on him while he performed.... so I feel better for not being one of those assholes.

I was at that Calgary show! That was my... third MGB show if I remember correctly. The girl who got pulled onto the bull onstage was someone I went to high school with.

To clarify, just how long was this woop woop :P? Anyway yeah I'm sure he doesn't like it but I am also sure it happens often so don't beat yourself up about it.

What were your 1st and 2nd MGB concerts before that one: Stampede Coca-Cola stage (2000?) and maybe another one at Stampede Corral or Mac Hall? I wasn't really familiar with the band back then.

I'm with guitarchick. I don't know how Matt feels, but I usually forget about all that stuff once the concert is over. It just bothers me a little during the concert. I don't like distractions. :)

First was an all ages show at the Palace (back when it was still the Palace) and the 2nd was Stampede that same year. Fact: the Stampede show was the first time I had ever met in person someone I had met from the internet.

Cool. I've never been to a concert at the Palace or Flames Central. I wonder what that concert venue is like. It must be a small crowd and intimate.

OMG. Woah. That was loud. Were you drunk or something? I'd be major embarrassed if I did that. hehe.

Being drunk would have probably made for a good excuse, but I was sober. I guess I got caught up in the moment and made a bad judgement call. To all those out there that yell aimlessly during an amazing Matthew Good performance... think twice, because you don't want to be the cause of a huge distraction when hundreds are listening to a musical genius.

At least you got a laugh...

I don't really get this thread. I mean, it's not even like this is even near the worst thing I have ever heard at a show. In fact, this is probably the least offensive thing. If I didn't know to specifically listen for something I wouldn't have even heard it.

Well....... not really. When watching that youtube video, it kind of ruined the rest of the song for me, to be honest. Let's just say I won't be saving that video on my bookmarks page, even though the sound quality and picture was great.

I haven't been there since it was changed to Flame Central, so I don't know how much it's changed, but I remember the sound was AWFUL. It felt like the soundwaves were just bouncing off the walls and getting muddled down. I still had a great time though- first concert I'd ever seen, and it was about a year after my parents split up and was one of the few times I got to spend some time on my own with my dad during high school, so that was nice.

That's cool. Glad you had good memories of it.

It ruined it for me too.

Anyways, thanks for having a conscience. The vast majority of other people who do it probably don't give a rat's ass that they're ruining the concert experience for others or distracting the musician / band.

man. i owe Matt and the other fans a big apology too.

I hate the towne i live in, fredericton new brunswick, and am really hard on it.

during matt's show at fredrock last year i drunkenly screamed along with some song in belligerance towards the fucking great big sea fans sorrounding me; it was them and the university kids who went to fredrock because it's the only thing happening in early aug.nb

it had nothing to do with matt, and i hope he didn't hear me/take it so hard

i really don't do well with alcohol sometimes; it essentially amplifies whatever i mean to feel - in that it makes me either and asskisser or a dickhead, i guess

when i don't mean to be eaitherr

that youtube video wouldn't work, but it's probably for the best hahaha
