is empty road really country? i would say its a good acoustic song, but i think Hopeless is more country

Yeah I think Empty Road has a country sound to it. Probably because of the pedal steel.

Hopeless is not Alt-Country. Hopeless is a half hearted attempted at country. It's a nice little ditty but i wouldnt consider it alt country. Empty Roads isnt either. It has country sounds in it, like pedal steel and what not.

I asked Matt when he was going to start recording again and he said that he was going to take a year off. So whatever he chooses to do, don't expect any music for a while.

im not enjoying this country slamming at all, i might be way off base but, all though matt does love country i can't see him doing a country album because he wouldn't be able to use political based lyrics as much. but my defintion of country is more lyrically, and that defintion is face value lyrics that you can't read intot as much, at least that's stereo typical country any way. wilco...ect excluded.

p.s country rock's my socks, about 50% of it anyway.

you obviously haven't listened to any Wilco. Considering its alt-country as the lyrics aren't always very straight forward. And Hopeless is not alt country.

being there is one of my favorite albums of all time, and a ghost is born hasn't left my cd player for month's (that cd has great replayability) i love wilico...hardcore. and thats exactly my point hopeless isn't quite alt country
