What Ever Happened To...

Recommended Posts

Lately, Kravitz has founded a design firm named Kravitz Design, stating if he hadn't been a musician he would have been a designer. Kravitz Design, focused on interior and furniture design, has designed residential spaces, as well as a chandelier for the crystal company Swarovski, named "Casino Royale."[11]

On July 7, 2007, Kravitz performed at the Brazilian leg of Live Earth in Rio de Janeiro.[2] That gave him the distinction of being the only major international rockstar to perform two huge free concerts at the world-famous Copacabana Beach. Kravitz had already played there on March 21, 2005, drawing 300,000 people on a concert of his own. The Live Earth concert, with eight other acts on the bill, including Pharrell Williams and Macy Gray, took 400,000 to the beach.

Also in 2007, Kravitz released a version of "Cold Turkey" by John Lennon on Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur, a charity CD. Kravitz has also been spending time recording his forthcoming album, It Is Time for a Love Revolution, to be released February 5, 2008.[12] Another album, Funk, will also be released in 2008. This is believed to be a project that Kravitz has been working on since 1997. Some of the original tracks for Funk were recorded while he was in New Orleans at Allen Toussaint's studio while taking a break for several months from recording in New York City.

On September 25, 2007, the Fats Domino tribute album "Goin' Home ; A Tribute To Fats Domino" was released. Kravitz was on the song "Whole Lotta Lovin'" along with Rebirth Brass Band, Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis and Maceo Parker. [13]

Kravitz performed at the Grey Cup halftime show in Toronto on November 25, 2007, where the Saskatchewan Roughriders beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23-19.[14]

The video for "I'll Be Waiting" was shot in Central Park in New York City and will be released in the next month.

I'm the king of the excessive posts lately.

I always thought that he should have released an album called The Apprenticeship of Lenny Kravitz.

Mike: Remember that toy movie we made, and we wanted it to end with Daredevil driving recklessly while listening to "Are you gonna go my way?" Fucking genius.

yes, but holy shit i forgot about the ending! hahahah if only we had the time on our hands to make that film again and actually finish it.

also, big lenny kravitz comeback in 2008!!! he'll dominate the charts. that's probably not going to happen, but my musical tastes from my youth are hoping for it.

The Second Coming (2008)

Third Eye Blind has announced a fourth studio album titled The Hideous Strength, which is to be released in 2008.[2] Recent live performances have revealed a majority of the new tracks being worked on. The band has also reveled that the album will be more political than the made for radio hits of the past.[3] Jenkins claims that this album will be "more political" than others they have done [4]. Jenkins said the fourth album has taken so long to complete because he is having trouble finishing the lyrics [5]. The album name is derived from the title of a 1945 novel by author C.S. Lewis.

A number of previously unreleased recordings were made available, including "Persephone", "Carnival Barker" (an instrumental), and numerous instrumental sessions declined by Jenkins for inclusion on the fourth album.

For the 10th anniversary of the release of Third Eye Blind's debut album the band performed at the Fillmore on March 13 and 14. The shows were filmed for broadcast on HDNet on Dec. 2 as well as normal broadcast and release on DVD and as a live album tentatively to be released in early 2008, as announced by Jenkins on November 9, 2007, on DC101's "Elliot In The Morning"[6].

Between April and November of 2007, Third Eye Blind toured extensively throughout the US, playing dozens of sold-out shows as a build-up for the release of their new album. They toured with other 1990s acts such as Counting Crows, Live, and Collective Soul during the summer of 2007. They held a Fall 2007 tour in which they played nine shows, beginning on November 9, at the University of Maryland College Park (which sold out the presale and general sale in a matter of hours), and ending on November 18 at the University of Rhode Island Ryan Center. They will be back on road in December with a few shows, starting in Chicago,Il at the Riviera Theater on December 7th at a Barack Obama rally, 2 shows on the 27th and 28th in Aspen Colorado @ The Belly Up and a New Years Eve Show in San Juan Capistrano, CA at the Oaks Event Center

they released something in 2005-2006 i think, i know this because dave grohl helped out on drums for two songs apparently. shirley manson had a barely audible guestspot on the second last QOTSA record for the song "long slow goodbye." aside from that, i don't really know what they've been up to. they released a greatest hits earlier this year... didn't they? i'd like to hear more shirley manson... i think she should go solo.
