Vancouver Tour Youtube Videos

Recommended Posts

uglyredhonda: Thanks for these! Added to the playlist, of course ( http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6C44E92C3871BCD5 ) That second recording of Fake Empire will probably end up in my completely informal top ten favourite videos from the list. The sound quality is excellent, and that soft-focus Matt in a sea of completely black background actually works in this video's favour. Chills watching it, I tell ya.

No other new videos yet today. I'm still checking...

Trivia:

The wall of shame looks like:

Key City Theatre - Cranbrook, British Columbia - Nov 11

Encana Events Centre - Dawson Creek, British Columbia - Nov 13

Red Deer Memorial Centre - Red Deer, Alberta - Nov 16

Capitol Centre - North Bay, Ontario - Nov 26

Charles W. Stockey Centre - Parry Sound, Ontario - Nov 27

The Empire Theatre - Bellville, Ontario - Dec 08

Showplace Performance Theatre - Peterborough, Ontario - Dec 14

In first place, for number of videos and show coverage, is Ottawa with 20 videos covering 12 of the 16 songs, plus the political rant. (The missing songs were Great Whales, X-Rated, On Nights Like Tonight, Us Remains Impossible).

In "most surprising place" is Toronto - Dec 19. The tour finale, and all we've got almost a full week later is 3 videos?

The playlist http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6C44E92C3871BCD5 has 197 videos from 66 contributors. (We've lost a total of 5 videos due to them being removed, two replaced though). The top contributor (I believe), is user everyname01 with 13 videos covering both Ottawa and Kingston.

Maybe at some point when I've got time, I'll put together a top ten list of videos. There are at least 2 or 3 no-brainers in there, including that last one I linked.

Cheers!

PS. Gonna try an attachment. This is the text file I've been maintaining with all the videos listed.

Thanks for all the hard work guys...kinda off topic, but I gotta say i'm not feeling his cover of fake empire. I'm not much of a national fan but I do enjoy that song, something about it seems off, ohhhh well...

Ah youtube...gotta love it! Here's what just came up in my latest search:

Pole Dance Freestyle to 'Flashdance II' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yacwqNKcRB4

Possibly NSFW, so I haven't actually watched it yet, but anyway.

(and no, this isn't getting added to the playlist, sorry ;) )

wow... i'm ...i'm...idk...fuck.

I think it might be the fact that he's not really doing any of the polyrhythm that's in that song.. just playing the chords normally

the rhythm is what makes it so interesting for me.. so it didn't really come across that well for me either

First new one in a while...

Ottawa - Dec 11, 2009

The Future is X-Rated - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUCe0kSYXFM

That affects several of the numbers in the trivia I posted above. Ottawa is now even further in the lead with 21 videos covering 13 of the 16 songs played, and everyname01 has a lock on top contributor with 14 videos. Oh, and the playlist now has 198 videos. ;)

Another one from everyname01...a somewhat better recording of the political rant from the Ottawa show.

Ottawa - Dec 11, 2009

Political Rant - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpyBuUF18qY

This presents a problem. The playlist already has 200 videos, and youtube won't let me add more. There's one Mother Mother video I can remove to make room for this one, but after that, I'm kinda stuck. I'm not sure whether I should try to break this into two playlists, remove a few of those videos that are truly pointless (eg. 15 seconds videos, sideways cell phone videos, etc.), or maybe just get rid of duplicate recordings of the same performance where one is obviously superior to the other. Any suggestions?

I was going to start a separate thread in the music in general section, but I figured because it's part of the tour I'd just ask here......Does anyone have video's of Mother Mother from this tour? After hearing them (for the first time) I was quite impressed and have since purchased their CD. I'd like to have a few more live video's if people have them - from Hamilton would be especially cool.

Yeah, tough to find, especially with Youtube's new "reduced accuracy" search engine. Here's what I came up with after a quick search of posters I remembered having Mother Mother videos:

Kingston - Nov 28, 2009

Body of Years - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSQ8Wh0eLzs

Calgary - Nov 15, 2009

O My Heart - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izlXpRwMOak

Body Of Years - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAfrohF_hr4

Wrecking Ball -

Vancouver - Nov 10, 2009

O My Heart -

Duncan - Nov 6, 2009

Body of Years - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oWNx7MWx94

Check the related videos list when you're watching these and it may turn up more, although everything I saw was much older...but some of it is professional, so worth watching.

If you're really interested in following all leads, go to the MG tour playlist ( http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6C44E92C3871BCD5 ) and pull up all the users who posted videos to see if they also uploaded any Mother Mother stuff. All of the videos listed above were originally found that way. Alas, I checked all the posters from Hamilton, and none of them posted anything though.

Hope that helps!

PS. I enjoyed re-watching these too, so if you find any more, please share with us...I'd love to see 'em.

I know this is going off topic, but I'm curious how you compare the CD to their live performance? I enjoy the CD [as I did their performances], but was a bit surprised that the album lacked the kind of energy that they produced live. Mods, if this is too off-topic, apologies, and feel free to remove.

I thought they sounded almost identical from album to live.

I've got a four year old son who is into stuff like pink, lady ga-ga, black eyed peas etc. because of the beats and the energy that is in the music, and he LOVES Mother Mother (which I am happy about). Even my 9 month old baby is dancing to them. So the energy is good in my opinion. Maybe because I saw them live first the live image (with thier great performance and their energy) is in my head as I listen to the album.

All I know is, I loved them live. Been quite a while since I've seen an opening band that I enjoyed enough to momentarily forget that I was dying to see the headliner. ;)

Video from last night (which I'm not adding to the playlist, 'cuz it doesn't count...):

Weapon -

You can see that one being shot on the one I got. ;)

More from Whisky River, Charlotte -

Giant (shot with a digicam)

Born Losers (with Mike Smith on guitar) (HD)

Load Me Up / Love Will Tear Us Apart (HD)

Weapon (HD)

Apparitions (with comments from Dale, Jr) (HD)

Some folks must have "Dale Earnhardt Jr" saved as a keyword on YouTube, 'cause "Apparitions" already has like 150 plays and it's only been up a few hours.

A few moderately unimpressive photos from the night:
