I just read somewhere that he learned how to sing for big wreck, that he was only the guitarist before that. He's got a pretty good voice for someone who didn't start off singing.

 

on a low note, it does hurt a bit to know that Krueger is the producer....grrr. you can actually hear kruegers influence in some of his tunes.

Thornley is sweet, i saw them live, they were mostly drunk but that was okay cause they played an amazing show and did a sweet encore.

I can't say that I enjoy Thornley at all, though Big Wreck was pretty good. It seems to me that he's thinking, "Well, making more interesting and complex songs isn't really paying the bills, so I guess I'll get get into that lucrative 'generic rock' market. Woo hoo!"

I'd like to hear him sans-Kroeger, whose fingerprints are all over that album. "Ian, do you think we could make this a little more boring? It doesn't sound like everything else on radio yet."

All that said, I'm sure he still puts on a pretty good live show.

Thornley rocks. His voice reminds me of Chris Cornell's and they have some hardcore fans. once saw a guy in the from row break his thumb andnose going for Ian's slide.... that was back in the time of big wreck though.
