Donnie Darko is a great movie, but I can't see it relating to and MGB material.

The asshole in the movie is also the lead singer for Phantom Planet, its Alex Greenwald I believe.

Donnie Darko should be viewed by everyone, just so its easier to talk about with people. I can't discuss this movie with people I go to class with, they have no idea. They are the typical college students of North America. Drink, get high, make desperate attempts to fornicate...

haha, thats so different here. Its totally seen as a college underground movie, like a cult classic. I talk to people about it and theyre like "Oh you're so from college or university" just because I've seen it. Makes me feel like I nothing better at school than go through old collections of fucked-up movies.
