Do you have any favorite cover songs that you feel are just a little bit better than the originals?

Do you know any cover songs that are a lot worse than the originals and should be destroyed, never to be heard by another human being again?

I really like the Beatles song Across the Universe...but Rufus Wainwright's cover of it is so goddamn great...i think maybe just a little better

The hardcore band Throwdown's cover of Baby Got Back...so great

Snake River Conspiracy's version of How Soon is Now...is very good

Same goes for Richard Cheese doing his cover of anything....i really enjoy him doing Radiohead's Creep...not better, but on the same par...

As for worst, I'll say Madonna's butchering of American Pie

okay....anyone else??????

Good covers:

Nirvana's The Man Who Sold The World [bowie] (call me trendy)

Weezer's Velouria [Pixies]

Yes, Rufus Wainwright's version of Across The Universe

Faith No More - War Pigs [teh Sabbath}

and probably the best one: Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah [Leonard Cohen]

Decent covers:

Gob's version of Paint It Black [teh stones]

Goldfinger's version of 99 Red Balloons [Nena]

Orgy's Blue Monday [The New Order]

Stabbing Westward's Bizzare Love Triangle [The New Order]

Bad covers:

I can't think right now.

But the new Between The Buried And Me cover cd should go to hell.

An additional note: I know we'll get a lot of these, so I'll say right now that Limp Bizkit's version of "Behind Blue Eyes" is better than The Who's version--at least it doesnt have that horrible guitar solo.

Sonata Arctica has covered Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler, and World in my Eyes by Depeche Mode, and I like both more than the originals.

The Wind Beneath My Wings must be heard though; it's hilarious and great.

Also, MGB's cover of Enjoy the Silence was decent.

More:

Korn - One

RHCP - Higher Ground

I agree that Behind Blue Eyes sucked ass but then again, anything by Limp Bizkit does.

Who else can take rock, hip-hop, metal put in a can, shake it up, and come out with something that isn't furtilizer? It's the Bizket man, the Limp fucking Bizket.

There up there with you know... Rod Stewart and uh.. Rod stewart.

____

If anyone's heard the outro to the Limp Bizket CD Chaocalate Starfish, you know what I'm talking about.

BTW, I fucking hate Limp Bizket, and that is one of the worst covers ever.
