i don't want all the halos, either. i bought the 'perfect drug' 'halo' and was totally pissed off to find out it didn't have the original version on it (my favorite nin song!!). i no longer have that halo. i'm not huge on remixes. especially by other artists.

I enjoy the experience. I anticipate an album and when I can FINALLY go to the store, buy it and know that it is MY cd, that's a really nice feeling.

and yes, the colour changing thing is cool, thats all I meant by it. somehow people seem to have taken it as my saying that I like the cd BECAUSE it changes colour.

commercialism at its best.

It's okay. Some parts are just annoying, but most are hovering around good and mediocre. Better than With Teeth overall, but the grandiose nature of the non-music part of the album (the ARG campaign, and the oncept which is better than its own execution, Trent's trend-setting in the digital release of the album and frig-you to the record company)really just makes the album less impressive. As someone said earlier, if he had devoted the same energy to the music, it would have been a lot better. I'd say up there with the Fragile. A lot of the songs are more dense than any other NIN, and for that much fresh material his lyrics aren't that shitty. But then there's songs like Capital G to fuck it all up. That being said, parts of this have grown on me a bit, but parts of it have just gotten worse. So, overall it gets a 'meh' but a positive sounding one, with head nod not shake. Meh+.

dude, my (leaked mp3) album changes color too. or maybe that was the brownies.

regardless, it's not a bad album at all. i didn't like the leaked songs, but when you play the album start to finish it seems there's a certain continuity about it that brings everything together. it helped me "get" the album when i ditched most notions i had of what Nine Inch Nails had been. so... Year Zero = not amazing, but fairly good.

i have a feeling that the next release by Trent is going to be a Greatest Hits.

that would be sweet. I know I would buy it.

i believe he's mentioned something about that possibility just to release him from his contractual obligations.
