Socialism... In communism, the state owns everything, in socialism nobody owns anything (or everybody owns everything if you will).

You can't remove money... which is why these systems fail. Things must have value. It is harder for the car dealer to share his wares, then it is for the grocer.

I think it is neat how some of the Natives of our land used to "Market" their products. They would trade, rather than use money. I dont know how different this is... but trading seems more appropriate in my eyes. Money i guess is a type of trade, but it is abused.

trading doesn't forgo the consumist attitude, it still places a value on items... it also requires that you have something to trade, but that's not strictly true for everybody. Monetary systems provide a mechanism for people to trade services (or skills).

There is no way to rid of value for items i guess... until the star trek era. Right anton?

Placing value for items/services....Its something unfortunate but necessary.

oh well, im just appreciative that i have to worry about money for a new MG CD instead of worrying about buying food for the day.

technically there is no such thing as an un-bias report ;)

But that is rather interesting... I just wonder what lengths Mr. Moore is willing to go to, to make money. It's interesting to consider, would he become that which he despises for money?

Ironically, I don't think that even star-trek has true removal of product value. The system is not clearly explained: Picard does mention in First Contact, to the one woman, that in the future there is no money "We work to better ourselves". But when you consider information presented in Deep Space Nine, it's not entirely clear: other races obviously have a monetary system. Looking a Voyager, the crew trades food rations and holodeck time, which in turn makes these things the currency.

Wow, double coverage...

Peace

hahaha point proven Toadman ;) ...

but thats just because the producers didnt want to make the show too obscure. The real star trek age will be rid of such "trading"

(never mind... who even thinks star trek will ever happen?)

Aloha

Animal Farm is a great book. ;) Michael Moore is very talented.

And from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Anya said, "People can so rarely be exchanged for goods and services." So money just helps sort that out.

On democracy, here's a quote:"The greatest fallacy of democracy is that everyone's opinion is worth the same."

Robert Anson Heinlein, 1907-1988 (American science fiction writer)

I'm not quite sure what my point is, maybe I'll figure that out later.

"The greatest fallacy of democracy is that everyone's opinion is worth the same."

Would that quote mean that it is unfortunate that the evil people and morons have the same effect on our society as the kind people and intelligents?

It is ironic that we have to give those people a chance though ;) its only fair right?....
