John McCain's running mate in the 2008 presidential election.

The first woman Governor of Alaska, and the first woman Vice Presidential nomination on the Republican ticket. Palin's political views are highly conservative. A creationist, she opposes abortion even in the case of rape or incest, favors abstinence-only sex education, and does not believe humans are responsible for global warming.

I know it's primarily Canadians on this BORED, but as a canadian living in the United States, I'm asking for some opinions. Personally, I can't believe it. The Republicans are hoping that the women who supported Hillary Clinton, will be so blind and stupid, that they will vote for Mccain because SHE is on the ticket. She is not qualified, before becoming governor of Alaska, shes was the mayor of a large town of 8,000 people. I AM FROM A TOWN OF 8,000 people originally, The Pas, Manitoba. From personal experience, I can't think of a single person from that town I feel would be accomplished enough to be second in command of the world's most powerful person. How is SHE accomplished for that position

I imagine GOP private meetings where they figure Mccain's really old, and if he goes to sleep and doesn't wake up, HEY! we've elected the first female President!

ugh, this is why I don't watch the news anymore. Now the republicans can't run commercials claiming that Barack Obama is not globally known.

i don't like her, but from what i saw of her speech yesterday, she's pretty good at spin. yes, she's totally not qualified, but she equates "not qualified" with "small town values" and "not being popular among the washington elite." people were going nuts... and thats the only time i've seen people go nuts for anything involving john mccain. i think she definitely increases his chances of winning, but perhaps things will change once we get her behind a debate podium. i'd like to see how obama and biden are going to counter this to their advantage.

i would probably do her.

but. i'm a sucker for older women who wear their hair up with glasses on.

I'm feeling the same way about her, myself. We have similar tastes.

Politically though...Sodamned is absolutely right though. She's about as qualified to be VP as, Bill Clinton is to run a home for wayward teenaged girls...

She's obviously intelligent, and has very good handlers... but that's about it. Women are not stupid, and they won't just magically switch parties, just because she's a woman. The republicans shot themselves in the balls here. Because of McCain's age, they really should have gone with a more politically experienced choice. Male or Female. There are several female republicans who would have made a better choice here. I think her youth, attractiveness, and gender were the power behind her selection. That's not a sexist statement, I just get the feeling that she's being used by the system, as opposed to being a part of it.

Look, I don't follow politics a lot but seriously.. she's what I'd expect in view for someone in a party that I despise but can this yell "HEY LOOK WE HAVE A WOMAN TOO!?" anymore?

I seen it pointed out elsewhere that she looks like one of them 'librarians' in gangbang pornos lol.

Her political views make me wish she was in fact a porn actress.

That would be a one hot porno.

Watch the VP of the free world suck and fuck her way to the... second place to the top.

I too am a sucker for women with glasses. But not that much of a sucker, her political views are a major turn off. The way I see it, Obama has the presidency in the bag.

...and Palin has my bag in her mouth.

I love her i want to have mad crazy sex with her. Ill dress up as an elephant and she can rub my snout with her thighs with furious sexual rage.

Those glasses omg. I hate her views but i will punish her for them BAD GIRL!!

...

It's possibly not really a matter of even being 2nd in command when picking a VP, one must actually consider them fit to be 1st in command as well. As many have pointed out, McCain's health is questionable, he has a history of cancer and is already in his 70's (just a few years short of the average life expectancy for a white male in the USA). Given that Palin's only political experiences has been an 18-month stint as a governor of a state whose population is under 700,000 (making it ranked 47th of 50 states, for comparison's sake, it's less populous than Portland, Oregon and it's surrounding suburban towns, or just slightly less populous than Hamilton, Ontario, for you Canadians) and a few years as a mayor of a town no one has ever heard of, it seems highly doubtful she'd be capable of running the country in any way. When asked about this, McCain campaign spokespeople refuse to address the question, they usually choose to instead attack Obama's supposed inexperience, and try to point out Obama's flaws. It's quite ironic, McCain criticized Obama for being young and inexperienced, but then picks a running mate even younger and less experienced. I am not digging how this election is going at all.

Okay, to get this out of the way....I'm having the girl put on a business suit, and her glasses and we're going to play Naughty VP Nominee tonight.

Now seriously...The republicans just shot themselves in the foot on both ends...To quote Pavel, his age and his health make him questionable, and obviously not a two termer, and second...she's young, inexperienced, and got a number of personal issues as well as some questionable decisions as governor to account for...I don't forsee them winning, or the party having any credible power after this election...

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming, "Bishopx spanks the naughty republican VP Nominee"

I read this and thought you said "his age and his health make him questionable, and obviously not a two TIMER."

And then I was going to post "I certainly hope not. That'd be pretty gross." ;)

But then I re-read it and all was well again in the warped mind of a one Miss Emily over here.

I guess to expand on the question McCain's health, the guy is 72, the average white American male lives to be 76, on top of that he's been battling the most serious form of melanoma for some time.... plus I kind of doubt the experience of living in a POW camp in Hanoi has done any benefit to his life expectancy. He may not seem like he's circling the drain, yet he's been less than fully open when it comes to questions regarding his health.

Good point about the torture affecting his life expectancy. But i don't think the most dangerous thing about age is chance to get cancer again or drop from a heart attack.

When you get older, your memory starts to go, your judgement isn't as sharp, and other things psychologically can occur. Ronald Reagan announced he had Alzheimer's a few years after he left office, however i've heard reports that he was not all right upstairs in the noggin' towards the end of his presidency.

My grandmother suffers from Alzheimer's. They are great at hiding the symptoms.

Technically, according to the Bush policy, McCain was NOT tortured in the POW camp... Unless it's only torture when it's done to an American.

I'm not even going to comment on Palin, but based on how America has previously handled the election process, it won't matter. People vote for parties, generally regardless of who is leading them.

FYI I am a Canadian living as an alien in the US now. And I'm damn glad that my passport will get me out of here if the shit hits the fan.

TIME did a rather interesting article about Palin, it seems her inexperience and basically being unfit for national politics probably aren't the worst two things about her. Her record as mayor that unheard-of town isn't exactly a shining example of sensible democratic leadership. She has a record of firing anyone she's able to fire that's somehow sympathetic with her perceived opponents. She placed all of her various departments under gag orders because of such matters, this forbade the departments from saying anything to the press without Palin's permission. She also apparently attempted to remove/ban certain books from the town's library because they contained language that she deemed inappropriate, and then threatened to have the town's librarian fired because the librarian didn't offer full support and cooperation in attempting to ban the books. If she's someone that can't do the right thing when given an executive office in a small town, why entrust her with a nation?
