Matt's done this a few times before but he's come back on those ocassions. He seems like he enjoys writing too much to give it up forever.

he seems to like teasing his fanbase, it seems. not that i care. if i wanted to read one-sided political rants, i'd.. well, i don't, so whatever.

Yeah, MBLOG was a good political blog if you like reading somebody's point of view. But hell, i can get this shit in my newspaper in the editorials section or in a million other blogs out there. I was much more interested in Matt Good the musician, and in some small extend Matt Good the person. I'm not that interested in Matt Good the political thinker, though it was kinda interesting to see what he had to say from time to time.

The best thing about the blog was that it got a lot of younger people engaged in the political process & more aware of global events. Thats the best thing that ever came out of mblog for sure. I always found it weird why fans of a musician would care so much about what he has to say politically, but i guess it comes with the idol-worship thing especially with younger people. But since Matt is getting people involved in whats going on in the world, its overall a positive thing. So in that sense, i hope he brings it back.

I hope he doesn't the problem is most people don't go out there and find out for themselves, they just take what he says at face value.

to an extent that is definately true, but is it better for people to read the articles he links to & learn about events through his words & eventually be more tuned into polticals/events in their lives....or just spend that same time making their MySpace pages look cooler?

everyone does, the problem is that primary sources are not easily acquired most of the time, and most people don't know where to look, but yes only reading matt's blog is not the perect solution, as neither is reading only a conservative blog, but from what i've read of Matt's, most of what he comments on is viable and he makes very good points. There is a huge push out there to make people on the left give more credit to the right, the problem there is that of all the comments generated from right-wingers lately, few of them make sense, though i will admit i have not read everything and can't paint all right-wingers with the same brush. But looking at the issues out there that are gathering all the attention, the NSA scandal, the iraq war, issues of national security and terrorism, the right (for the most part, though not all) refuses to admit Bush Adminstration is wrong, even though the evidence is overwhelming, they keep referign to the war on terrorism, which is a joke, lets be honest.

Truthfully people need variety period, I read articles from several different sources. I would prefer he encourages his fan base to go off and find some news sources and become informed than him giving his opinion.

As to the right-wing comment I completely take offence to be placed in the same category as the far right wingers. There are plenty of right wingers who are merely fiscally conservative, probably even more than then there are who are socially and fiscally conservative. That is the reason the Liberals tend to be considered our "natural governing party".

I never placed you in any category, i was talking about comments made by those on the right in the media, In Matt's defense he has on several occasions told people to not just believe him but go out and find out for yourself. It may be just the media's fault, but all i see on TV and the internet are far-right, right wingers, there doesn't seem to be any more central thinkers, on mainstream news, there is little presence of the left, they seem to only get there say in the independent media, the BBC is fair, but the majority of news on the major networks and cable is so critical of the left for bullshit reasons, they equate solicialism with the devil, and unfairly paint several socialist leaders, such as Chavez and Morales, and give no clout to thinkers such as Chomsky and Zinn, among others, calling them threats to democracy, which is absurd.

I didn't say you called me a right winger, but I take offence to being lumped in with the far right wingers, as I am a moderate right winger. I am fiscally Conservative and socially Liberal, there's plenty of people like that, the old Progressive Conservative party was like that and the current Liberal party is like that. Truthfully there's more people in the middle too than any where else that's why the Tories had such a tough time getting elected. That's why the NDP has less of a chance than the Tories getting elected either.

As for the media, the CBC is pretty balanced too. However, I read from a lot of different Canadian media outlets. I find even the "right wing" papers can be balanced too. I read supposed right wing papers all the time and find that Bush & Harper are being just as criticized as they are being praised.
