I downloaded new OLP and while I really like the sound of it, except for maybe "Wipe That Smile Off Your Face," the lyrics are just attrocious.

 

I want to bitchslap Bob Rock because he is the one who told Raine Maida to change his lyrical style on the last record. Goodjob for ruining a decent thing, you fuckwit.

 

Honestly, I don't understand why bands hold him in such high regard. He gives them good success at first but ends up ruining their appeal in the long term.

 

Metallica, anyone? Oh yeah and he did some work on the new Tea Party record... ugh.

OLP hold a special place in my heart......They were part of my life soundtrack.

 

I live in Seattle, I used to live in vancouver.....The other night my best friend & I sat in this dive bar, drunk playing all kinds of canadian bands & we were crying.....Sattelite juke boxes are so great.

 

We played Mattew Good, OLP, The Hip, Bif, Holly Mcnarland....But the one line that always gets me from OLP is....

"I miss your purple hair, I miss the way you taste..."

 

Yeah yeah, we are great big geeks.

Yeah, I might get flamed for this but I always liked that line. Better than "Gina's losing faith in what she knows, hates her something... blah blah... all of her clothes, thinks of surgery and a new nose. Every calorie's a war!"

 

That is the worst line in an OLP song... ever.

the new single is a bit...well it's okay i guess and i'm excited for the new album but not as much as i thought i'd be you know. gravity was a step backwards.

Lyrically, of many things, Gravity is easily the worst of the 6 cds. HIPT's lyrics aren't much better either, but some of the songs atleast come from the heart.

The opening track is good, the next two arn't bad, but then the rest is just plain boring.

yeah i agree, the album has a few good ones but the lyrics throughout are pretty aweful. i'd say the first and the last songs are the best.

This is the first OLP album i didn't buy.
