Tripoli

Recommended Posts

If i were ever to be a writer of any sort, i wouldn't give a shit what people thought my work meant. IMO You should only write for one person.

With that in mind, i don't have an interpretation of the song besides my own idea as to what Matt meant when he wrote it (which i think is similar to your original question.) And i'm not going to swap stories about what someone else was feeling/thinking.

I think if anything its more of a talk talk reference:

Hey love, look into your glovebox heart.

What is there for me inside? This love is tired.

I've changed the locks. Have I misplaced you?

Have we lost our minds?

Seeing as it was the first song he wrote after throat surgery, I think it's about him dealing with that whole ordeal, no voice and whatnot "best to stay sleeping, in awhile I will awake to be a hasbeen".

At least that's what I got out of it.

I think it's about losing someone, and then going crazy over it.

But I don't know why it's called Tripoli? Being a geography major, I know that as the capital of Libya...

there are countless tripolis all over the world, but we all know it's the capital of libya because we've all read the book.

but i don't know/care why the song has that title
